Maritime Capital Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal data when you visit our website www.maritimecapitalco.com or otherwise interact with us, and sets out your rights under UK data protection law.

We handle personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer, as we are not required to do so under UK GDPR.

3. The personal data we collect

Information you give us

When you complete the enquiry form on our website, we collect the information you provide, namely your name, email address, and (optionally) your telephone number and company name, together with the content of your message. We also keep a record of any correspondence you have with us.

Information we collect automatically

When you visit our website, we and our partners use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your device and how you use the site, including your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the site that referred you, and your interactions with our pages. This is used for analytics and, where you consent, marketing. See section 5 and our Cookie Policy for details.

Information from third parties

We use a business-identification service (Leadinfo) that may identify the organisation associated with a visitor’s IP address, so we can understand which businesses are interested in our services.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, grouped into necessary, statistics (analytics) and marketing categories. Non-essential cookies are only set once you have given your consent through our cookie banner, and you can change or withdraw your preferences at any time using that banner.

The main third-party tools we use are Google Analytics, Google Ads, Microsoft Clarity, Leadinfo and the LinkedIn Insight Tag. A full, always-current list of the cookies we use is available in our Cookie Policy.

6. Who we share your personal data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary, with:

  • Service providers who process data on our behalf, including our website host and enquiry-form provider (Webflow, Inc.) and the analytics and marketing providers listed above;
  • Our professional advisers (such as lawyers and accountants) where reasonably necessary;
  • Regulators, law enforcement and other authorities where we are required to do so by law.

Where a third party processes data on our behalf, they do so under a written agreement and may only use it in line with our instructions and this policy.

7. International transfers

Some of our providers (for example Webflow, Google, Microsoft and LinkedIn) are based in, or store data in, the United States or other countries outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK “adequacy” regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement (or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses).

8. How long we keep your data

We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes set out in this policy, and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations. Our general retention periods are:

  • Enquiry and contact data: up to 24 months after our last contact with you.
  • Client records: for the duration of our relationship and 6 years afterwards, to meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Analytics data: in line with the retention settings of the relevant tool (for example, Google Analytics is currently set to 14 months).

9. How we keep your data secure

We have appropriate technical and organisational measures in place to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration, and we regularly review those measures. No transmission of data over the internet can be guaranteed as completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information you share with us.

10. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for access to the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to erase your data in certain circumstances;
  • ask us to restrict or object to our processing of your data;
  • ask us to transfer your data to you or another provider (data portability);
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

Our website and services are intended for a business and professional audience and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data relating to children.
